QuickBooks TLS 1.2 Warning
What is QuickBooks TLS 1.2 Warning
QuickBooks software keeps on getting new updates and improvements with every version. At times these changes do end up causing more issues for the users which is the same with QuickBooks TLS 1.2 warning. Herein, Intuit has ensured that the latest version of QuickBooks especially QuickBooks Online, will work smoothly only with Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 and not 1.0 or 1.1 if a user is employing Internet explorer. This does have an impact on the accessibility of the software for users who are connecting through Internet Explorer and not other web browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox. The users employing another web browser might face trouble only if the inner web service of QuickBooks is Internet Explorer and exporting of data from the desktop to online is taking place.
Enabling TLS 1.2 is the key to resolve this issue. However, different OS versions follow different steps to verify and enable TLS 1.2 which is displayed below with full instructions. The steps mentioned catering to both errors arising during importing and signing with QuickBooks accounting software.
For Windows 10 user:
This operating system is launched with Internet Explorer 11 wherein TLS 1.2 is already enabled. However, you will be required to verify the same for which the following steps are required:
- Completely close QuickBooks Desktop.
- Access Internet Explorer browser.
- Navigate to the Tools menu, and then click on Internet Options.
- Now click on the Advanced tab and then navigate to the section labeled Security.
- Now verify if TLS 1.2 enabled or not (checked).
- If it is not, then checkmark the box against TLS 1.2 to enable it.
- Now click on Apply, and then followed by clicking on OK tab.
- Now close the browser and then access the QuickBooks software again to ensure the issue is resolved.
Windows 8.1, Windows 8, and Windows 7:
For users employing any of the mentioned operating systems, they are advised to upgrade their Internet Explorer to Version 11 if possible. However, if they wish to continue with the older version like 10 or 9, they will be required to enable TLS 1.2 through the settings option. For this and to verify that TLS 1.2 is enabled within Internet Explorer 11 follow the steps below:
- Completely close QuickBooks Desktop.
- Access Internet Explorer browser.
- Navigate to the Tools menu, and then click on Internet Options.
- Now click on the Advanced tab and then navigate to the section labeled Security.
- Now verify if TLS 1.2 enabled or not (checked).
- If it is not, then checkmark the box against TLS 1.2 to enable it.
- Now click on Apply, and then followed by clicking on the OK tab.
- Now close the browser and then access the QuickBooks software again to ensure the issue is resolved.
For users who are still employing Windows XP and Windows Vista, the option to upgrade beyond Internet Explorer version 8 is not there. In such a scenario, it is recommended to first upgrade their operating system and then upgrade the internet explorer.
The above steps although almost similar help to resolve the issue encountered with TLS 1.2. If the user still faces any issue with the TLS 1.2 or the error is still not resolved, they are advised to connect with the technical customer support of Quickbooks. If for reason like a long queue, the user is unable to connect with the required support team.
